PET FOOD RECALL.  The pet food recalls which started in March '07
opened a lot of eyes to the differences between cheaper store-line pet
foods and higher-quality
premium brands.  We're happy to report that very
few of our brands were effected.  The culprits in the recall were food
processors using adulterated wheat gluten as a protein ingredient in an
effort to make cheaper pet food.  For more recall info visit:

You Are What You Eat!

This is very true for your family pet.  What your family pet eats can have an
enormous impact on not only your pet, but your family as well.
Have you read the label of your pet's food?
Do you know what a "by-product" is?  Or, what it means when a food says
"chicken meal" vs "chicken"?
Does your food contain any colorants or preservatives?
What, if any grain source, is used in your food?  Corn, Wheat, Soy, Rice?
Pet Foods
Food allergies are becoming very common in household pets.  Untreated, they can
cost you thousands of dollars in vet bills and your pets untold misery.

Although not always the case, food allergies may result in
chronic ear infections, dry
or dull coat,  itchiness, nervousness, poor appetite, hot spots, offensive body odor
and rashes.  Common food allergens for pets have been found to be corn, wheat, soy
and dairy.  In some cases, animals may have a sensitivity to certain protein sources,
due to long term exposure.

Much research has been done over the last few years on pet food quality and
ingredients.  There are many excellent sites with in depth information on this topic.
Reading the label of your pet's food can be enormously enlightening.
